Over the summer break, our site has undergone a full deep clean and all annual safety checks will be completed. Our school will be following government guidelines when students return regarding:
- minimising contact with those who are unwell
- cleaning hands thoroughly and more often
- ensuring good respiratory hygiene by promoting 'catch it, bin it, kill it' approach
- enhanced cleaning
- minimising contact between individuals
Although we will need to make adjustments to how the school day will run, we are fully committed to ensuring each of our students will still experience the full range of curriculum subjects which underpin a Dixons education.
In order to ensure that all of our staff and students are fully ready for the start of the academic year, we have taken the difficult decision to alter the start dates to provide additional training and induction for students and staff. Please find below the start dates for each cohort:
- Year 11 return – Thursday 27 August 2020
- Year 7 return – Tuesday 1 September 2020
- Year 8 return – Wednesday 2 September 2020
- Year 9 return – Thursday 3 September 2020
- Year 10 return – Friday 4 September 2020
I would like to remind families that the academy expects all students to arrive at the academy by 8.15am and be ready for the academy day to start at 8.20am.
Academy Uniform and Equipment Expectations
When your child joins us in September, we will expect all our students in the full academy uniform. At the bottom of this page we you can find a document with the academy uniform expectations again for your awareness. We have made one minor change to the uniform policy this academic year which means all students must have a pair of football boots as students will be spending more time having PE lessons outdoors when we return, due to COVID-19.
When students join the academy they would normally be allocated a locker. Due to COVID-19, students will not use a locker to limit contact with hard surfaces; this means, mobile phones should not be visible at the entrance and exit point and should be switched off in students’ bags as they enter the academy. Once government advice allows we will ensure all students are provided with a locker as this is only a temporary measure.
For further information about our uniform and equipment expectations please see our family handbook available at the bottom of the page.
Please click here for access to the academy term dates. Please familiarise yourselves with these dates. I would also like to remind families that we do not authorise term time absence.
It will not be possible for families to come into the academy without an agreed appointment day and time when we return. Appointments should be made by calling the academy reception or by emailing the relevant member of staff to arrange a meeting. The expected communication will be by phone and email, as we will not be able to accommodate a great number of face-to-face meetings, particularly where rooms will have to be cleaned after each meeting. It is very important that we have up-to-date contact details when your child joins us in September – if you need to update your details, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
